Design for Manufacturing & Assembly
I design with manufacturing and assembly in mind across both robotics and professional tooling work. In professional work, I design around real manufacturing processes, tolerances, inspection needs, material choices, shop capability, brazing, welding, machining, and assembly requirements so parts can move smoothly from CAD to the shop floor. In robotics, I use full-robot CAD, master sketches, packaging checks, and BOM planning to make parts easier to build, assemble, service, and repair.

Mechanical Engineering Co-op
Designing, fabricating, and documenting tooling for particle accelerator structures, including SOL linear accelerator builds, TPV tooling, RF component fixtures, and test equipment for government and research customers
- Developed and redesigned the assembly process for 2 meter long Speed of Light linear accelerator structures, scaling production from one structure to four structures at a time
- Designed brazing, welding, leak-checking, lifting, shipping, cleaning, and transport tooling to support accelerator structure manufacturing
- Assembled and vacuum brazed four SOL structures using custom tooling and revised the tooling process to support future production builds
- Repurposed SOL tooling for a 0.75 m TPV linear accelerator structure by creating new strongback designs for TPV-specific geometry, alignment, and handling
- Designed a switch test bed to simulate cup and slug alignment for frequency changes from 6 MHz to 12 MHz
- Converted preliminary SLAC designs into representative models and documentation for a C-Band compact portable linac project
- Drafted prints for assembly, inspection, brazing, and machining while documenting tooling fabrication, build, rotation cart, and assembly procedures
Engineering Co-op
Supported precision manufacturing work by operating CNC equipment, designing manufacturable parts, and improving shop operations through ProShop ERP implementation
- Implemented ProShop ERP to improve production tracking, workflow visibility, and shop operations
- Operated CNC lathes and mills to produce precision parts using existing programs and setups
- Designed and modeled customer parts in Onshape and Fusion 360 with manufacturability in mind
- Created and processed purchase orders, quotes, estimates, shipping labels, and invoices to support day-to-day shop operations
